Territory students can win an iPod touch or $1000 for their school if they know how to conserve water and electricity.Power and Water is celebrating the launch of its education resource website Help Save the Planet! with a competition open to all Territory students.
The site focuses on steps students can take to live sustainably, whether that is through turning up the air conditioning to more than 24 degrees or turning off the tap while brushing your teeth.
“The website contains lots of simple things students can do to save energy and water in their homes,” Power and Water’s Environment and Quality Manager Randall Scott said.
“It tells you where your drinking water and electricity come from and how they are delivered to your home and why it’s important we all conserve our natural resources.
“It’s got information, games, interactive illustrations of the power and water cycles, quizzes, colouring-in sheets and desktop wallpapers.”
For the chance to win an iPod touch or $1000 for their school, students just have to complete a simple quiz on water or electricity use.
Entries open Monday 15 March 2010 and close Monday 26 April 2010.
