Winners in Power and Water’s annual Show Santa Where You Live competition were announced this evening at a street party in Marchant Court, Malak.Entrants were judged on visual impact, design creativity and effort, with Power and Water encouraging entrants to also ‘think green’ this year by using energy saving LED lights, recycling last year’s lights and using a timer.
Jim Bamber, General Manager Retail, Power and Water, said ‘Driving around Darwin and Palmerston the entries are just fantastic, ‘Show Santa’ brings not just neighbours, but whole streets together. Its also really encouraging that residents and businesses have taken on board the ‘think green’ message with many people using LED lights and still creating a spectacular display.”
In each region, winners in the domestic category receive $1000 off their Power and Water account and a $100 donation to their nominated charity, second place receive $500 off their account and $75 to their nominated charity and third place $250 off their account with $50 to their nominated charity. In the commercial category, prizes were awarded for 1st and 2nd place and they will receive $1000 off their account and a $100 donation to their nominated charity and $500 off their account and $75 to their nominated charity respectively.
The competition, which ran in the major regional centres of Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs, began on Wednesday 7 November and closed on Sunday 2 December.
There is still plenty of time to drive past all the properties that entered ‘Show Santa Where You Live’ competition. For a full list of entries visit The Show Santa Where You Live entries page. Power and Water thanks everyone who entered the competition and helped spread the Christmas cheer.
