Power and Water’s apprentice linesman wins Master Builders NT Overall Apprentice of the Year30 August 2017
Power and Water congratulates Alice Springs dual-trade linesman Tim Childs, winner of the Overall Apprentice of the Year Award in the Master Builders NT Excellence in Building & Construction (EBC) 2017 Awards.
The awards showcase the very best projects that the industry can deliver, celebrating the best apprentices, best supplier and sub-contractor and the Young Builder of the Year.
“It’s a really humbling experience to be awarded for a job I really enjoy. It was made for me. My dual apprenticeship really helps me to develop my skills and I hope to be able to help and mentor other apprentices,” said Mr Childs.
Earlier this year, Tim was also the GTNT 2017 Apprentice of the Year Award recipient, completing his Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Distribution Overhead qualification in August 2016. Power and Water has maintained a strong partnership with GTNT for over 15 years and has hosted over 415 apprentices and trainees since 2006.
Tim has also been selected as a finalist for the Austin Asche Apprentice of the Year at this year’s NT Training Awards next month.
Power and Water’s GTNT apprentice’s Shane Jovanovic and Nathan Powell were also selected as Master Builders NT EBC 2017 finalists.
Power and Water’s Power Networks Executive General Manager Djuna Pollard is extremely delighted with Tim, Shane and Nathan’s achievements.
“Congratulations to Tim for his well-deserved accolade. Tim is an invaluable team member, continually displaying outstanding business knowledge, is a strong team member and displays exemplary competencies in a role that requires complex multi-tasking skills,” said Ms Pollard.
“It is also very inspiring to see three highly capable apprentices hosted by Power and Water nominated for awards. We strongly support Northern Territory trainees and apprentices by equipping them with the right skills and nurturing their development in a safe and supportive environment,” said Ms Pollard.
