Online survey of household energy use

19 June 2017

Power and Water is assisting the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) with their national online survey of household energy use.

The AER holds the survey every three years to set the ‘bill benchmarks’ for regional and national average electricity use shown in the graph on your electricity bills.

Completing the survey will give you the opportunity to win one of 100 Woolworths $50 vouchers provided by the AER.

ACIL Allen Consulting has been commissioned by the AER to research and deliver the new benchmarks.

The survey asks for your Customer ID number, which can be found on your electricity invoice. By completing the survey you will be agreeing to Power and Water releasing 12 to 36 months of your energy consumption data to ACIL Allen Consulting. The energy data, along with your survey responses will be analysed and combined with other survey responses to develop the consumption benchmarks.

The information you provide will not be used for marketing or similar purposes and you will not be able to be identified in any way from the published data.

Complete the survey here.

The survey is open until 1 July 2017.

The AER regulates wholesale and retail energy markets, and energy networks under national energy legislation and rules.

This also covers the electricity distribution network tariffs charged by network providers (e.g. Power and Water) to electricity retailers. The network tariff is included in the final price charged to customers by electricity retailers.
