Helping communities understand and manage power consumption

28 February 2013

Power and Water is working with remote communities to inform and educate residents about how to reduce their power consumption.

Use less powerActive steps to reduce consumption can help to reduce the financial impact of the recent tariff increase.

Our Use Less Power radio campaign is currently being broadcast in eight different languages (including English) across the Territory.

The campaign messages are a part of a broader strategy to inform remote customers of the NT Government’s decision to increase tariffs, while also providing information on what they can do to make their power card last.

Information for remote customers has already been made available via stakeholder communications, our Internet site and the distribution of flyers and posters on the ground.

The Use Less Power messages will be broadcast until mid-May on the following radio stations:

  • AIR Radio – Across the Northern Territory
  • Radio Larrakia
  • CAAMA - Southern remote communities
  • ARDS - Top end remote communities
