ALICE SPRINGS:
Gillen Club
General Manager Geoff Booth says the club employees 18 full time and 15 part time staff to cater for around 5000 customers a week. Day can be long at the club with business hours from 11am to 2am to following day.
The club has a kitchen and bar and some of the bigger appliances in use are a dishwasher, two glass washers, and a washing machine. The hot water system runs on gas and reverse cycle airconditioner/heaters are in use.
The club has approx 100 square meters of grassed area, a native garden that is watered for about 10 minutes a day.
Alice Springs Memorial Club
To cater for around 2000 customers a week General Manager Andrea Sullivan has 12 full time and around 29 casual staff employed. Business hours at the club are 10am to 11.30pm, but Friday and Saturday it’s 10am to 1.30am to following day.
The club serves meals and has two bars. Some of the bigger appliances used are a dishwasher, two glass washers, clothes dryer, washing machine, walk in fridges and freezer. There is also pokie machines, plasma screens, flood lights in the bowls area, the Manager’s residence, a hairdresser and gym.
There is 1200 square meters of lawn, which includes the bowls lawn and a native garden. The bowls lawn is watered two to three times a week on average.
TENNANT CREEK:
Sporties Club
With approximately 350 customers a week and opening from the afternoon to between 10pm and 2am six days a week, Manager Amanda Lumb employs two full time and five part time staff.
Sporties serves meals and operates a bar with the need for two cold rooms, a dishwasher, hot water system and evaporative airconditioner system. There is also 16 gaming machines and two televisions.
There is a grassed area of about 40 metres by 40 metres and a native garden. Watering is undertaken twice a week for around two hours.
Barkly Shire Council
This Local Government organisation employs 23 staff in the building and estimates they receive about 300 customers a week. Office hours are 8am to 4.20pm Monday to Friday.
There is the usual office equipment of computers, photo copiers and printers as well as the hot water system and the Apac and split system air conditioning units.
The Shire office has a grassed area of 1800 square meters and a mixture of exotic and native plants in the garden. Watering takes place three times a day for 30 minutes each.
KATHERINE:
Katherine Sport and Recreation Club
Manager Kim Oliver estimates the Sport and Rec Club has between 100 and 300 customers a week and employs 12 staff on a casual basis.
The club has a bar and kitchen and some of the bigger appliances it uses are a glass washer, hot water system and a number of old but small airconditioners.
There is a grassed area the size of a rugby field and no watering is undertaken at the moment. In the dry season watering is undertaken for two areas every second day.
Katherine Country Club
Katherine Country Club has around 800 customers a week with business hours from 10am to midnight. Manager Frank Dalton employs eight full time and 18 part time staff to assist customers.
The club has a restaurant and bar, golf course and bowling green. Some of the major appliances used are two dishwashers and 14 airconditioners.
There is 1500 square meters of grassed area with palms and native plants. Watering is undertaken as needed in the wet season and for approximately one hour a day in the dry season.
DARWIN / PALMERSTON:
Tracy Village Social and Sports Club
Opening hours are 10am to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 10am - 2am Thursday to Saturday at Tracy Village. During this time Assistant Manager Robyn Kelleher estimates 2000 customers visit the club. There is a total of 46 staff - 18 full time, 11 part time and 17 casual.
The club serves meals and has bars. Some of the bigger appliances used at the club are six cool rooms, one freezer, two clothes dryers, hot water system, a couple of large airconditioners and lots of ceiling split systems.
There are four ovals and palms and native plants which are watered once a day for 20 minutes via a reticulated system.
Nightcliff Sports Club
Club Manager Rob Parrish says Nightcliff Sports Club has around 600 customers a week. The Club opens every day at 10am and closes at 11.30pm Monday to Wednesday, 1.30am on Thursday, 2am Friday and Saturday and 10pm on Sunday. There are three full time, 12 casual/part time and five contract staff employed at the Club.
The club service meals and has bars. Some of the bigger appliances used are an industrial dishwasher and glass washer, pokie machines, two large cold rooms, a glycol beer dispensing system, four 3 phase light poles, a 3 phase bowls green lawn mower, bain maries both hold and cold, freezers, TVs and fridges.
There is about 250 square meters of bowling greens and grassed areas and the garden has flowering and native shrubs. A reticulated watering system is in operation in the early morning and evenings for a total of about 2 hours.
Cazaly’s Palmerston Club
General Manager Noel Fahey employs eight full time and 30 part time staff to serve about 4000 customers that visit the club each week. Club hours are 10am to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 10am to 2am Thursday to Saturday.
The club has a restaurant and bar and some of the bigger appliances used are two deep fryers, commercial refrigeration unit, beer reticulation system, a combi oven, three dishwashers, a clothes dryer, hot water system and ducted and split system airconditioner units.
There are a variety of plants in the naturally watered garden and no grassed areas to worry about.
