We are looking for people to work in a small professional team at Channel Island and Weddell Power Stations.  You will be operating GE Frame 6B and LM6000 gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, a Mitsubishi 32 MW steam turbine and other equipment.  Full training will be provided. 
It is desirable that you hold National OH&S Certificates of Competency in Intermediate Boiler and Turbine Operation (or equivalents). You will also be willing to extend and develop your technical competencies.  
The level of appointment is dependent on qualifications and experience.

In this role you will provide engineering services for gas turbine generation plant and associated ancillary equipment. You will also develop total asset management strategies and programs for control systems, electrical plant and other components to optimise whole of life total asset management programs.

You will need an appropriate engineering degree, heavy industry control systems experience and experience in procurement, project/work scoping and project management skills.  You will also be able to develop, forecast and report against expenditure for annual budgets.

This position is based at the Channel Island Power Station.

Working in a team, this position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of our telecommunications network throughout the Northern Territory.

The person we are looking for has experience in the maintenance and installation of UHF and microwave radio, telemetry systems and fibre optic transmission equipment.  They also possess highly developed interpersonal, written, oral and communication skills.

Significant technical project opportunity

This position is responsible for project managing the introduction of new technology, revised processes and related organisational enhancements for the System Control function of the NT power system.

Strong project management skills and demonstrated understanding of change management techniques, as well as experience in effectively applying these in a complex technical environment are critical for success in this role.

Management experience of real time operational activity in a shift-type environment is also essential. An understanding of the tools and systems used in power system control and electricity markets would be considered advantageous.

Two positions available

If you have an AQF Level III Certificate in a Mechanical/Electrical Trade from a relevant industrial environment and can analyse technical systems, join our team and train to become a Power Station Operator.

At the completion of training you will operate generating plant and equipment at the Ron Goodin and Owen Springs Power Stations in Alice Springs, plus remote monitoring of Brewer, Yulara, Kings Canyon and Tennant Creek Power Stations.

You will work on a continuous roster, and experience working in the power generation industry, specifically operating gas turbines and dual fuel reciprocating engines is desirable.

You need to be outcomes-focussed with extensive experience in construction, installation and maintenance of high and low voltage electrical distribution systems. You will also have knowledge and experience in the delivery of successful outcomes in a complex service environment, with the ability to lead and develop effective teams at a senior management level.

An executive contract of up to four years may be offered.

This position is responsible for providing assistance in monitoring, operating and controlling transmission, distribution and communication systems to ensure continuity of power supply.

The person we need has a Certificate 3 level qualification in the electrical industry or demonstrated equivalent experience. They also have a strong understanding of power system operations and its related equipment. Experience as an electrical fitter/mechanic or as an “A” grade linesman or tester is desirable.
