Our vision for reconciliation
Our vision for reconciliation is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have the same opportunities in health, employment and education as other Territorians.
We recognise that the success of the RAP is dependent on respectful leadership and relationships as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ involvement. It is driven by our RAP Working Group comprising our Executive Leadership Team and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander senior employees.
Our RAP Working Group is committed to key initiatives and projects focused on improving and increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment, retention, training and employment and supporting leadership into senior roles through the development and formalisation of an Aboriginal leadership unit.
We are committed to forging stronger respectful relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Northern Territory and recognise that there is much to learn from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in equitable partnership to create sustainable futures.
We respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures, land and history as it is important when engaging, communicating and participating in decisions that impact on their lands. We strive to promote and actively encourage a culturally aware and culturally competent workplace that respects cultural protocols and practices.
We understand and are committed to providing a culturally and socially inclusive workplace and recognise the importance of creating sustainable opportunities; education, leadership, training and employment and economic aspirations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the Territory to achieve equality.
