Pricing and tariffs
The price of electricity, water and sewerage services in the Northern Territory is determined by the Northern Territory Government.

Power tariffs
Please note: Below are the revised tariffs to take effect from 1 January 2013.

Commercial demand tariff
This tariff is a total of the monthly energy tariff (kilowatt hours or kWh) plus the monthly demand tariff (kilovolt amps or kVA) plus the fixed daily charge of $6.0560 per day (refer to table below).

Application of tariff rates
The domestic tariff is applicable for premises intended to be used for residential purposes, excluding serviced apartments, but including:
- Electricity used on vacant land zoned for residential purposes.
- Churches or buildings which are used primarily for public worship.
- Lodging for members and staff of religious orders.
- Living premises of retirement villages (must be separately metered).
The commercial tariff is applicable for premises intended to be used for non-residential purposes, including:
- Electricity used on vacant land zoned for commercial purposes.
- Temporary supply (ie for building purposes).
- Motels, hotels, service apartments and any form of temporary accommodation.
- Shops, offices, warehouses and industrial/manufacturing plants.
- Mining enterprises.
- Farms.
Power service charges
There are extra charges for some electricity services. These include:

Please note: Below are the revised tariffs to take effect from 1 January 2013. GST is not applicable on Water and Sewerage Fixed Daily Charge or Usage rates.

Sewerage tariffs
Domestic
A fixed annual charge of $731.94 applies to residential properties and vacant blocks able to be connected to the sewerage service. It applies whether the service is connected or not and regardless of the number of sanitary fittings in each residence.
Non-domestic
For properties with none, one or two sanitary fittings, a fixed annual charge of $731.94 applies. For properties with three or more, a fixed annual charge of $731.94 applies, plus an additional amount for each fitting:

Water and sewerage service charges
Please note: Tariffs are GST inclusive and effective from 1 January 2013.
